Northeastern hosted more than 100 high school students on its Boston campus Tuesday for Calculus Field Day, where the students competed in teams to solve challenging calculus problems and advance their knowledge of and passion for mathematics.

Microbial behavior reveals effects of climate change, urbanization on salt marshes

Salt marshes play a key role reducing the effects of urbanization and climate change. These marshes absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and the microbes in the marsh break the carbon down. That’s why researchers, like Northeastern University’s Jennifer Bowen, are working to find out how these vital ecosystems tick.

Psychology lab receives NIH grant to study long-term effects of early life stress

Our brains are continually developing – led by a combination of neurological changes and environmental factors – well into adolescence. According to Heather Brenhouse, assistant professor of psychology at Northeastern, there’s a lot of mystery surrounding why the brain evolves the way it does and what factors cause changes in development.
