Congratulations to Profs. Slava Epstein and Kim Lewis as the Foreign Policy Leading Global Thinkers for 2015! This is a list of 100 Global Thinkers in areas of advocates, artists, challengers, chroniclers, decision-makers, healers, innovators, moguls, statistics, and stewards. Prof. Epstein and Lewis earned this recognition as healers for “finding medicine in a pile of dirt.” Prof. Epstein developed a device, called the ichip, which allows the cultivation of bacteria in their natural habitat–dirt. This device has lead to the possibility for new antibiotics and treatments. Prof. Lewis has begun research into new treatments for Lyme Disease with the aid of this device.
