About Kate Mason

Kate is a Master’s Student in the Environmental Science & Policy Program. She received her BS in Environmental Science with a concentration in Conservation Science, as well as minors in Writing and Film Production, from Northeastern University in May 2023.

During her Spring 2022 semester, Kate completed a co-op at Wood Hole’s Marine Biological Laboratory in their Cephalopod Program, assisting in animal care and husbandry, maritime systems maintenance, and the training of incoming scientists on the care of specific cephalopod species. Additionally, Kate acted as a Student Leader within Northeastern University’s Explore Program for three years, helping to guide undeclared students in developing strategic plans for academic and experiential engagement and connecting them with appropriate campus resources.

Kate was born in London, UK, and grew up primarily in New York, USA. Her primary interests include ecological restoration, environmental impact assessments, and animal behavior studies, as well as more interdisciplinary work in science communication, video editing, and creative writing.
