About Julia Mitchell
Area: Behavioral Neuroscience
Advisor: Rebecca Shansky
I am a first year graduate student in Dr. Rebecca Shansky’s lab. For two years as a post-graduate, I investigated how estrogen, the COMT genotype, and stress affect executive functions in both males and females. As an undergraduate, I studied how the DISC-1 (Disrupted in Schizophrenia 1) gene and adolescent stress affected behavior in female rats. I am interested in continuing my research exploring the role that sex differences play in the etiology and symptomatology of mental health, especially stress-related disorders.
