About Steven Untersee
While my research expertise is in the field of marine biology and evolutionary ecology, my current interests involve science writing and student transitions, primarily from life as an undergraduate to the world beyond student life. Most of my time is spent teaching Biology Capstone, a course focusing on developing a proposal for unique research. I assign and assist with this monumental task to help students to hone their critical thinking and persuasive writing skills, to practice their public speaking skills, and to develop an understanding of the conventions used by biologists in writing and discussing research. I also teach an Introduction to College course for biology majors, and so I get to help students transition to the undergraduate life as well as to transition from undergraduate to post-graduate life.
