PRISM is a program funded by the National Science Foundation to attract and retain students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors at Northeastern University. The Department of Psychology is actively involved in PRISM’s mission.
In the fall, Distinguished Professor of Psychology Lisa Feldman Barrett presented a talk through PRISM titled “Understanding the Nature of Emotion.”

In the spring semester, Psychology Professor Adam Reeves will be teaching a module about the relationship between the physical frequency of sound and the subjective pitch. Students will use a bisection method to obtain individual data experimentally, and then use a Matlab program to best-fit an equation to their data, thus discovering their own personal sound–to–mind transformation.
