Northeastern University and its very own Barnett Institute of Chemical and Biological Analysis and the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology are very excited to host the 2017 Global CESI-MS Symposium at the end of this week. On October 5-6, Associate Professor Alexander Ivanov will take the lead in chairing the symposium and hosting scientists from around the world as they present the latest and greatest in CESI-MS (Capillary Electrophoresis integrated with Electrospray Ionization-Mass Spectrometry).
This is the second international CESI-MS Symposium, whose focus will be on the new technologies that have been created for interfacing high performance capillary electrophoresis with mass spectrometry. The main theme of the Symposium is the knowledge and experimental practice exchange to help researchers learn how to use the CESI-MS technology as an orthogonal tool to overcome challenges not addressed by more conventional techniques and advance their research.
The Symposium spans interest of many researchers, scholars, and practitioners from academic, clinical, and industrial laboratories working on aspects in fields of biology, chemistry, medicine, biotechnology, agriculture, food industry, and even space research.
With presentations on topics such as proteomics, glycomics, metabolomics, genomics, characterization of biopharmaceuticals, novel applications, and more, academic researchers and industry innovators will share brand new information on latest developments and methodological breakthroughs in the analysis of intact proteoforms, post-translational modifications,mAb charge variants, native protein complexes,  and biomolecules of various other classes (e.g. isobaric glycans and metabolites) as well as in the diverse research areas, including spaceflight mission explorations, food and beverage analysis, agriculture, and single cell analysis conducted using capillary electrophoresis coupled to mass spectrometry.
Northeastern University Dean of the College of Science Kenneth W. Henderson, PhD, and Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology Chair Professor Michael Pollastri, PhD will be giving opening remarks at the beginning of the two-day CESI-MS Symposium that is sure to be full of the newest advancements in integrating high performance separations with mass spectrometry that have applications in countless fields of research.
