Harlan Lane Receives George Veditz Award

The faculty, staff, and students of the Department of Psychology congratulate Dr. Harlan Lane, Matthews Distinguished University Professor, on receiving the George Veditz Award.

This much deserved award was presented by the Massachusetts State Association of the Deaf  to recognize Dr. Lane’s “long-time commitment to preserving ASL by educating others, increasing awareness of Deaf culture nationally and internationally, and in recognition of the impact of his many books have had on the Deaf world, the hearing world, and within academia.”  Dr. Lane’s most recent book is “The People of the Eye: Deaf Ethnicity and Ancestry.” His research focuses on speech production and perception in hearing and deaf people and on the culture, history and manual language of the deaf world.
