Congratulations to Professor Lisa Feldman Barrett and Jolie Wormwood, who were recently featured in a New York Times article, “When a Gun is Not a Gun.” In the article, they discuss a psychological phenomenon known as “affective realism” which may help to explain some of the disturbing trends revealed in the Justice Department’s recent analysis of Philadelphia police shooting data.
