BNS students awarded 2015 Nu Rho Psi summer research grant

Congratulations to Kristen Brown and Christine Boutros who were awarded the Nu Rho Psi Undergraduate Summer Research Grant. Kristen and Christine are University Scholars that have been collaborating on a project with Dr. Greg Miller in the Addiction Science Laboratory to further understand the co-usage of drugs of abuse, particularly alcohol and marijuana. Co-usage of alcohol and marijuana has become increasingly more common among young adults, and recent evidence supports the idea that cannabidiol (a component of marijuana) protects the liver from alcohol-related toxicity. With that in mind, Kristen and Christine questioned if co-usage of marijuana and alcohol changed the amount of alcohol consumed, and what chemical components of marijuana are responsible for this effect.
