Strike a pose for International Women’s Day and #BreakTheBias.

International Women’s Day—Tuesday, March 8, 2022—is a unifying global phenomenon marking the achievements of women across multiple time zones, languages, and cultures. This year’s theme, #BreaktheBias, is symbolized by a crossing of the wrists. Men and women are encouraged to “Cross your arms to show solidarity,” in photos recognizing the day.

The call to action to recognize women’s equality and gender parity has been celebrated for more than 100 years, with the first gathering in 1911 in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland, drawing the support of more than one million people. It has grown exponentially since then.

What is also notable is that IWD doesn’t belong to a specific country or organization. Rather, “the story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist, nor to any one organization, but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights,” says renowned U.S. activist Gloria Steinem.
