Northeastern’s Biochemistry Club Wins National Award

Congratulations to the Northeastern University Biochemistry Club for receiving the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) Undergraduate Affiliate Network Outstanding National Chapter Award.

The ASBMB notes the chapter’s leadership in education activities in the areas of biochemistry and molecular biology. It specifically cites exceptional commitment to increasing public scientific awareness, interaction with other campus activities and events, participation in regional and national meetings and sustained chapter activity.

Dr. David Budil is the chapter advisor.  Chapter members include Jennifer Endress, Chapter President; Erin Askounis, Treasurer; Rachel Yao, Secretary; Samantha Genardi, Volunteer Chair; and Benjamin Viera.
The chapter has held numerous activities and events including workshops about science careers and graduate school, science demonstrations in local high schools, talking with prospective students during open house activities on campus, and drafting and signing a petition to the Massachusetts State legislators to resolve the Sequester and restore funding to biomedical research.
The chapter will be recognized during the Education Award Lecture on Sunday, April 21, at 12:30PM during the ASBMB Annual Meeting in Boston.
