The Mathematical Association of America has selected Van Cat Nguyen to be a Project NExT Fellow for 2015-2016. Project NExT (New Experiences in Teaching) is a professional development program for new or recent PhD’s in the mathematical sciences, and it provides support and guidance in all aspects of an academic career. Dr. Nguyen joined the Mathematics Department in Fall 2014 as a Research Instructor. Her area of research expertise is homological algebra and representation theory, and she has already taught several undergraduate calculus classes. Dr. Nguyen was also recently awarded a two-year AMS-Simons Travel Grant. This prestigious award, jointly funded by the American Mathematical Society and the Simons Foundation, will provide support for Dr. Nguyen to travel, participate in conferences and collaborate with other researchers in the US and in other countries.
