Monday afternoon millions of people across the country will be looking up to the sun, watching as the moon pases in front of its path.

Physics lecturer Alessandra Di Credico gives some insight as to what’s actually happening, what to expect during the eclipse, and a warning about not looking at the event without protective eye gear.

The physics department’s viewing event is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Centennial Common. The department has approximately 100 solar viewing cards to distribute to guests on a first come, first serve basis. If there is inclement weather, the event is moving to 114 Dana Research Center where people can watch the NASA stream of the event.
