75th Putnam Competition

The William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition is an annual contest for college students established in 1938 in memory of its namesake.

Each year on the first Saturday in December, over 2000 students spend 6 hours (in two sittings) trying to solve 12 problems.

This year the 75th Putnam competition was held on December 6, 2014 with 4320 contestants from 577 institutions competing. The winning teams are (listed from ranking 1-5): MIT, Harvard University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, University of Waterloo, and Carnegie Mellon University.

Our Northeastern team was ranked 112 (out of 431 teams). Among our contestants, Kyle Meyer has earned a score of 33, which places him in the 233.5-th rank. His name was posted in the Top 500 List.

Congratulations Kyle!
