Maurice Auslander

2015 Auslander International Conference

The 2015 Maurice Auslander International Conference will be held at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, Quissett Campus in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, USA on April 29-May 4, 2015.

Maurice Auslander was an influential mathematician widely known for his creation, together with Idun Reiten, of Auslander-Reiten theory. In the twenty first century, Auslander’s work has gained considerable impact on the many fields that are applying and using this theory. This year the distinguished speaker will be Osamu Iyama from Nagoya University. Although Osamu never met Maurice, he is considered by many to be among the main bearers of the legacy of Maurice Auslander. For example, his higher Auslander-Reiten theory, his work on representation dimension and the new tau-tilting theory are the current developments of the theory originated by Maurice Auslander.

The Auslander Conference is a very successful yearly event sponsored by Bernice Auslander, Northeastern University and the National Science Foundation.
