About Christopher Skipwith
Dr. Christopher Skipwith is an Assistant Professor of Biotechnology in the Department of Natural and Applied Sciences at Bentley University (Waltham, MA) and an Adjunct Faculty member in Biotechnology Programs at Northeastern University. Dr. Skipwith earned a B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biophysics from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. He was also a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Northeastern University and a research associate at Merck (Metabolic Disorders) and DuPont (Industrial Biosciences). Dr. Skipwith’s research seeks to link the development of novel devices for point-of-care diagnostics with studies of the policy, patenting, business, and public health implications of implantable and wearable point-of-care diagnostics. His research applies business analytics to determine whether recent scientific discoveries are being effectively translated into public value, and how this process might be quantified and accelerated. In addition to his teaching and research endeavors, Dr. Skipwith serves as a scientific review officer and consultant for two Boston-area venture capital firms.
