Bridge to Calculus
Launched in 1994, the Bridge to Calculus summer program offered by the Department of Mathematics primarily serves Boston Public High School students entering their junior and senior year in the fall and who intend to take Calculus. Bridge to Calculus is offered for free to those students who are accepted into the summer program and breakfast is provided. The program enrolls approximately 120-150 students each summer.
The classes are taught by experienced Boston Public High School teachers in collaboration with Northeastern University Mathematics PhD Graduate Student Mentors under the supervision of a Math Department Faculty member.
At the end of the program, students will receive both a certificate of completion and a fall placement recommendation by the Lead Instructor for Pre-Calculus, Regular Calculus, AP-AB or AP-BC Calculus, or N (no recommendation) if the student’s work or attendance does not meet program requirements. Recommendations will also be provided to their schools.
