MS Applied Mathematics PlusOne
In the MS in Applied Mathematics program students gain a strong advanced mathematical foundation, sharpen problem-solving abilities, and develop data analysis and modeling, machine learning, statistical learning, and computational skills.
Students enrolled in the PlusOne program can accelerate their education by applying graduate-level coursework toward both their undergraduate and master’s degrees—earning both degrees in less time.

Eligibility
To apply to the MS Applied Mathematics PlusOne program, students must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at Northeastern University.
Eligible Undergraduate Majors
Students who are pursuing a BS in Mathematics with minimum cumulative 3.000 GPA and recommended minimum 3.7 GPA in mathematics courses.

Financing and Scholarships
Any financial aid a student may have received from the university while an undergraduate will not continue once the student obtains graduate status.
PlusOne students are not eligible for the Double Husky Scholarship.

Curriculum Requirements
A maximum of 16 graduate credits completed as an undergraduate can be used toward the Master of Science degree. Check the course catalog for course descriptions.
Courses to complete as an undergraduate student
- Students can select any graduate course from the MS in Applied Mathematics curriculum to count towards fulfilling the undergraduate requirement and the graduate requirement.
- It is typical to take two required courses and two elective courses.
- MATH 5131: Introduction to Mathematical Methods and Modeling counts both as a graduate elective and an undergraduate capstone
Courses to complete as a graduate student
There is a total of eight graduate courses in the MS in Applied Mathematics program. At least four of which are taken after the completion of the bachelor’s degree.
