The Barecka Lab conducts transformative research that enables the transition toward an economy where the basic human needs for healthcare and hygiene products, materials, and clothing are satisfied through a selective and efficient transformation of carbon dioxide from the air into the next generation of chemical building blocks.

The Agar Lab characterizes post-translational modifications of proteins and changes in protein, peptide, and lipid expression that occur during ALS, and then determines which of these changes have structural or toxic consequences.

The Tian Research Lab focuses on the identification and quantification of known and unknown contaminants in our environment, to assess their risks to human health and the ecosystem.

The Peltier research group integrates organic, inorganic, and materials chemistry to tackle challenges in catalysis, energy, and sustainability. We develop synthetic methods to manipulate electronic structure, leading to novel molecules and designer materials. Our group combines chemistry and biology to investigate the molecular machines responsible for building and maintaining the bacterial cell envelope. We focus on essential, conserved protein complexes for which antibiotics have yet been developed. A long-term goal of our research is to design precision, mechanism-based inhibitors targeting these proteins to combat multidrug-resistant infections.
