About Gail Begley

Dr. Gail S. Begley earned a PhD in Cell & Molecular Biology at Boston University and was a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford Institute of Molecular Medicine and at Harvard Medical School. Before taking a faculty position at Northeastern, she was a Staff Scientist at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole. Dr. Begley has been recognized with the Excellence in Teaching award at Northeastern University and been named a Biology Scholar by the American Society for Microbiology. In addition to biological research, Dr. Begley has presented and published on curriculum reform, faculty development, Service-Learning, and other high-impact teaching practices. She previously served as Director of the Northeastern University PreHealth Program, Co-Chair of the Service-Learning Advisory Board, Director of Undergraduate Studies in Biology, and Associate Chair of Biology.
