Dennis Fernandes

  • Assistant Teaching Professor

With a PhD in Physics and a Master’s in Biotechnology from the University of Toronto, I bring a multidisciplinary approach to solving complex problems at the intersection of biophysics, medical imaging, biotechnology, and data science. My research has focused on G Protein-Coupled Receptor (GPCR) signaling dynamics, theranostic nanoparticle development, and fluorescence-based imaging techniques. I have led projects involving single-molecule fluorescence spectroscopy to understand the organization of complex biological systems and their therapeutic implications. Further my research is also pushing the boundaries on medical imaging devices developing AI and ML powered ultrasound imaging diagnostic tools for clinical applications.

In addition to my academic achievements, I have over eight years of experience across research, industry, and teaching. As Assistant Professor and a former Market Access Analyst at Sanofi, followed by serving as a Lead in Business Analytics & Insights at Sanofi, I thrive in dynamic environments that demand technical expertise and strategic insights. My background includes molecular biology, protein expression, digital innovation, and AI/ML-driven data analytics, all contributing to a broad range of projects from R&D to commercialization. With numerous peer-reviewed publications, numerous presentations at international scientific conferences, and leadership in digital innovation projects, I’m passionate about advancing technology to solve real-world challenges.
