MSC Summer Internship
at Northeastern University’s Marine Science Center

The Marine and Environmental Sciences Department / Marine Science Center is pleased to announce Summer Research Internship opportunities for Northeastern undergraduate students during the Summer of 2026. The goal of the Internship is to provide in-depth research experience under the mentorship of a faculty in the MES Department and Marine Science Center. In appropriate cases, this position can be used as a spring board for further efforts devoted to independent research or Honors Theses.



Details
Weekly hours: 35 hours per week.
Model: interns are expected to work in-person.
Duration: 7 weeks (Summer 1 or Summer 2, specific dates listed below).
Compensation: $20.40/hr.
Transportation: A daily shuttle from NU Boston campus to the MSC/Nahant campus will be available free of charge on a first come-first served basis. Parking is available free of charge to MSC interns.
Housing: Not available at the MSC/Nahant campus.
Eligibility
This internship is open to Northeastern undergraduate students.
Please Note: students taking classes in Summer are not allowed to work more than 20hr/wk, and students not taking classes are not allowed to work more than 40hr/wk for all student jobs combined. Before you apply, please be sure that you have availability to commit 35hr/wk to the internship.

Note: An required step in preparing the application is to identify a prospective mentor prior to submitting the app form and materials. If you are interested in the Program, you are advised to identify and contact one or more MES Research Professor(s) whose current research topic resonates with your interests, and inquire about whether they are accepting interns through the Program this summer. Participating MES Research Professors are listed on the Application Form (linked below).
The Department will connect directly with the faculty mentor you list in the form for their recommendation.
Application Materials: you will need to upload your resume/CV and a Statement of Interest (1-2 pages) describing the research and experience you wish to achieve through this internship.
