Kirsten Fertuck

Kirsten Fertuck completed her undergraduate degree in Toxicology and Environment at the University of Toronto, Canada, and then completed a dual PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with Environmental Toxicology at Michigan State University. After postdoctoral research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, she taught at several schools, most recently at Northeastern University since 2014. Courses taught have ranged from introductory-level (including Molecules and Cells, and Inquiries in Biological Sciences), to mid-level (including Genetics, Biochemistry, Environmental Biology, and Plant Biology), to upper-level (including Capstone research courses).

Professor Fertuck has been the director of the biochemistry program at Northeastern since 2020, where she performs various roles in addition to teaching, such as meeting with prospective students, assessing and updating undergraduate curricula, improving the incoming first-year and transfer student experience in the major, and advising and supporting new graduates from the major.
