About Haridas Kumarakuru

Dr. Haridas “Hari” Kumarakuru obtained his BSc with honors in physics with First Class distinction from University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka. He received an Overseas Research Scholarship (ORS) and completed his PhD in Physics at the Micro and Nano-Materials Research Group, University of Bristol, United Kingdom. He completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Centre for HRTEM, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU), South Africa with a focus on nanostructured energy materials characterisation using advanced electron microscopy. From there, Hari joined Wentworth Institute of Technology as an adjunct professor of physics and Northeastern University as a part time lecturer. Currently, Hari is serving as an Assistant Teaching professor at the Department of Physics, Northeastern University. Hari has 18+ years of educational leadership experience amplifying academic and scientific endeavours in the higher education setting that has brought him to four separate continents. He capitalizes on his in-depth competencies in curriculum implementation, instructional delivery, scientific research, technical writing, and student mentoring to provide students with the tools for academic and professional success. Since 2007, he has had the privilege of mentoring numerous undergraduate and Master’s students, a pursuit he is most passionate about. Hari is a member of IOP (UK), JSA, AAPT and ASEE and he is a reviewer for several scientific journals.
