GBMF An open science ecosystem for enabling macrogenomic research in the sea

This project will create enabling conditions for marine macrogenomic research by establishing an Open Science Ecosystem for Marine Macrogenomics. Through a large-scale community coordination effort, the team will generate interoperable seascape genomic datasets comprising 5,000 whole genomes, each with associated metadata, representing 100 marine species across four regions: the Northeastern Atlantic and Baltic, Northwestern Atlantic, Southeast Pacific & Australasia, and Northeast Pacific. These data will serve as a resource for the community to address major unanswered questions in evolutionary biology using marine systems, which host many phyla not found on land yet remain understudied.
