This R61/R33 study examines the relative effectiveness of two novel visual remediation approaches to schizophrenia that focus on the low-level mechanism of contrast sensitivity and the mid-level mechanism of contour integration. There is no overlap between the interventions used in this study and the ones in the proposed study.

Specific Aim (s): R61 Aim: To evaluate the effects of UE and PO on LLV and MLV targets, to determine if each meets a pre-specified criterion for clinical significance and if so, the minimum dose to achieve this effect. R33 Aim: 1) Replicate and extend initial target engagement using the optimum treatment, dose, and visual targets from the R61 in a larger sample size.
