Research in the Stubbins Lab focuses on environmental chemistry, geochemistry, the carbon cycle, freshwater, coastal and ocean biogeochemistry, feedbacks between natural biogeochemical cycles and climate change, permafrost, black carbon, and aquatic microplastics.

Aron Stubbins researches and teaches about the environmental impact of people, including changing climate and carbon cycles, changing nutrient cycles, and the environmental and human health costs of plastic waste. Fieldwork spans from the Boston campus to the ocean, Amazon, and Arctic.
