Experimental Condensed Matter Physics

Research in nanophysics and novel materials are emphasized. Our faculty are involved in several research fields at the frontiers in the following areas: spintronics, topological materials, superconductors, semiconductors, ferromagnets, mesoscopic physics, left-handed metamaterials, quantum chaos, nanotechnology and nanoparticle synthesis.

  • Alberto de la Torre

    Professor de la Torre’s research seeks to understand complex emergent phenomena in quantum materials and engineering new long-lived quantum states by interacting with matter at ultrafast timescales. 

  • Professor Dimitrova’s research aims to develop fast high-fidelity quantum network channels between atomic tweezer arrays for modular quantum computing and long-distance quantum networks.

  • Professor Kin Chung Fong’s group conducts interdisciplinary research of quantum matter, quantum microwave optics, and quantum devices.

    Research in Professor Israeloff’s group is focused on polymer glass aging, non-equilibrium measurements, and fluctuation–dissipation.

    Professor Kar’s expertise lies in graphene, 2D boron nitride, h-BCN, carbon nanotubes, and topological insulators.

  • Sergey Kravchenko

    Professor Kravchenko expertise includes metal-insulator transition, wigner crystallization, and flat-band materials.

  • Professor Sridhar’s research is focused in quantitative MRI, drug delivery, and neurovisual science.
