Barnett Institute researcher awarded $1.5M grant

Alexander R. Ivanov, an associate research professor in the College of Science and the Barnett Institute, with assistance of collaborators Dr. Shashi Murthy, of Northeastern’s Chemical Engineering Department, and David Frank, of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, was recently awarded a $1.5 million-dollar grant from the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of General Medical Sciences.

Squid-​​inspired electronic screens: How one professor builds tech solutions that replicate nature

Assistant professor Leila Deravi takes an interdisciplinary approach to investigating the proteins that drive complex biological systems and building materials in the lab that replicate those systems. Among her research projects are optical displays inspired by squids and a face cream that strengthens skin proteins to reduce wrinkles.
