Health care co-ops don’t get snow days

Neither wind nor rain can stop the United States Postal Service.

Nor can a blizzard stop Northeastern University students on health care co-ops.

“The work isn’t easy, but it’s important and is why I am here,” Angel Le, a Northeastern co-op student working as a patient care technician at Emerson Hospital in Concord, said Monday afternoon.

Anya Tandon, a Northeastern co-op working as a clinical assistant at Boston Children’s Hospital, said the blizzard presented challenges and an important lesson.

“We have to be able to show up so that we can take care of others and support people when they are at their lowest,” said Tandon, a fourth-year behavioral neuroscience and pre-med student.  “Even though it can be challenging to overcome the harsh weather, showing up to work makes a huge difference, which can be life-saving for others.”
