Martin Schwarz Jr

  • Associate Professor Emeritus

Department

Martin Schwarz was a faculty member at Northeastern University for 44 years. He received the PhD in Mathematics from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University, and the PhD in Molecular Biology and Chemical Physics from Johns Hopkins University. Professor Schwarz joined the Department of Mathematics as an assistant professor in 1981, advancing to tenured associate professor in 1987. His research areas include nonlinear analysis, nonlinear differential equations, and applications in physical science. Specifically, he has worked on completely integrable partial differential equations and neighboring Hamiltonian equations, as well as qualitative dynamics of the Maxwell-Higgs equations.
