Summer Linguistics Series
The Summer Linguistics Series is back! The Linguistics Program will be hosting four talks in the next few weeks focusing on different langauges. The talks are open to everyone in the Northeastern community and we welcome people with and without background knowledge in Linguistics!
In this first event in the series, Prof. Littlefield will give a talk titled “Fun With Fula!”:
Have you heard of Fula? Pulaar? Fulfulde? Fulani? Known by many names, this language spans across 20 nations and has 65 million speakers. We’ll explore a few of the many fascinating features of this West African language: implosive consonants, noun classes, inclusive and exclusive pronouns, and more! Prof. Littlefield will also share a bit about how her experiences in the Peace Corps led her to learn this amazing language and ultimately to a career in linguistics.
