Psychology Colloquium: “Dissecting the neurobiology of social flexibility to break the cycle of violence”

Our ability to interpret social contexts allows us to forge and maintain key relationships; even the most routine daily interactions require social behavioral flexibility, or the ability to use current contextual cues to facilitate adaptive social exchanges. Exposure to traumatic events can derail adaptive social flexibility, leading to aggression, even in the absence of social threat. My overarching research goal is to identify promising neurobiological targets that could be leveraged in the clinic to break this cycle of violence.
