About Celeste De Palma

Celeste De Palma is a Master’s Student in the Environmental Science and Policy Program. She received a BS in Biology from Florida International University in Miami, FL. She comes to Northeastern with more than 9 years of experience in the environmental nonprofit sector, specializing in developing science-based policy recommendations centered around Everglades restoration. Most recently, Celeste was the director of Everglades Policy for Audubon Florida where she shaped, managed and implemented strategies to advance the conservation of America’s Everglades along her team of science and policy experts. Celeste has a proven track record of developing relations with decision makers at the local, state, and federal levels to influence policy. In 2018, the National Wildlife Refuge Association named Celeste as their first ever National Wildlife Refuge System Advocate of the Year for successfully mobilizing her community to help stop the licensing revocation of the 140,000 acre Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge. At Northeastern, Celeste is interested in expanding her knowledge of water policy, wetland restoration and nature based solutions to increase resiliency in the natural and built environments.
