The department took another step forward with the prominence of its undergraduate research, being named as a National REU site by the National Science Foundation. Their Research Experiences for Undergraduate programs provide funding for up to a dozen college students to attend Northeastern for 10 weeks over the summer and perform research in one of our professor’s laboratories. These coveted awards are highly competitive, and Northeastern’s proposal, developed by Professors Carla Mattos, Patricia Mabrouk and colleagues, will focus on the theme of catalysis. The three-year program, which commences in 2014 will be coordinated by Dr. Oyinda Oyelaran.
