Psychology professor pens article about pride and persistence for Harvard Business Review

Psychology professor David DeSteno wrote an article titled, “The Connection Between Pride and Persistence” for the Harvard Business Review. In it he evaluates the connection between an employee receiving praise and their work ethic moving forward.

DeSteno, whose area of expertise is social psychology, cites the famous “Marshmallow Test,” an experiment by Eddie Tong and a team of psychologists at the National University of Singapore, and his own research with University of New South Wales psychologist Lisa Williams.

“What we indeed found was that pride led people to value the future,” he writes.
