BOSTON – Northeastern senior co-captain Chloe Laverack has been named the CAA Scholar Athlete of the Year for women’s rowing, the league announced on Monday, June 22, 2015.

The conference honors one Scholar-Athlete in each of its 21 championship sports. Nominees for the award must be a starter or important reserve on their team and must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25. The winners were selected by a vote of the media relations directors at each CAA institution.

All 11 recipients earned All-CAA honors in their respective sports this season and they each have a cumulative grade point average over 3.35.

Laverack (Southbury, Connecticut) was also the winner of the 2015 Jeanne Rowlands Award, which is bestowed annually to Northeastern’s top senior female scholar-athlete. During her time on Huntington Avenue, Laverack helped the Huskies to three CAA Championships in 2012, 2014 and 2015, and rowed in the seven seat in each of the past two seasons.

Laverack received All-CAA honors for the second year in a row in 2015 after helping lead Northeastern to its third conference title in the past four seasons, and also helped lead Northeastern to their first team appearance at the NCAA championships in program history in 2014 before following that up with another appearance this year.

Laverack is a chemistry major with a 3.5 grade point average. She is a three-time CAA Commissioners Award winner and a three-time CRCA National Scholar Athlete (2013, 2014 and 2015). In the community, Laverack was instrumental in Northeastern’s Cradles to Crayons initiative.
