College of Science Alumnus Wins Poster Contest

Dan Shea focuses his work on BPAs — not the ones associated with plastics, but rather a class of anti-cancer drugs that also has anti-microbial properties.

It is this work that earned him an award from the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering at a poster presentation in the spring.

As an undergraduate, Shea had worked in the lab of Carolyn Lee-Parsons. He is now enrolled in graduate school at Johns Hopkins University where he was recently accepted into a research lab that uses micro-fluidic channels to study cancer metastasis.
