Auslander Conference Another Success

Tprimaryfinhe Maurice Auslander Distinguished Lectures and International Conference enjoyed another very successful year. The Distinguished Lectures were delivered by Professor Luchezar Avramov, who holds the prestigious Dale M. Jensen Chair in Mathematics at the University of Nebraska.

There were very inspiring Expository Talks by Michael Gekhtman, Srikanth Iyengar, Jose Antonio de la Pena, Dolors Herbera and Luise Unger covering topics in Poisson geometry, cluster theory, commutative algebra and several aspects of representation theory including tilting theory. There were many new faces this year including the distinguished speaker and all of the expository speakers. Also, Northeastern University had a very respectable presence among the speakers with Dylan Rupel, He Wang, Toni Rangachev and our new post doc Van Nguyen. Several graduate students were given opportunity to present their work in front of the international audience.

Bernice Auslander enjoyed the Distinguished Lectures and also several conference talks. Furthermore, she was able to participate in the main social events: the cookout at Alex Martsinkovsky’s house and the conference dinner.

The conference had 59 participants from 12 countries, with a large representation of women: 30 percent of the participants and 35 percent of the speakers. More than 20 percent were graduate students.
