Physics Colloquium: Quantum Information and Quantum Gravity
Physics
Speaker: Dr. Ning Bao of Brookhaven National Laboratory
Abstract: Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity are two of the central successes of 20th century physics. In this talk, I will explore ways in which the two areas can inform each other, via the lens of Quantum Information Science. I will in particular highlight some areas where machine learning techniques could be valuably applicable in the study of these fields, through the lens of two topics: holographic entanglement measures, and complexity theoretic approaches to the cosmological constant problem.
