Assessing oyster reef restoration’s longer-term impact on ecosystem services

The ecosystem services provided by restored seagrass, salt marsh, and oyster reef habitat likely continue to evolve for decades, but post-restoration monitoring of these projects is often limited to the time frame of grants, which are often funded just for 1-2 years. Research from the Grabowski Lab and colleagues from the University of North Carolina revisits restored oyster reefs created by Dr. Grabowski 13 years ago to assess how their effects on fish and crustacean communities has changed since early post-restoration monitoring. The work recently appeared in Restoration Ecology.
